Kallang Airport take-off to Penang, 1950

75 years ago on 9 August 1950, our grandparents took a lovely holiday to Penang, onboard a Malayan Airways Douglas DC-3 flight. They boarded the plane at the former Kallang Airfield/Airport with family members from our pre-Bedok address at Kampong Soopoo seeing them off. We had previously shared some of the photos from the album but here is the complete album that included boarding and take-off, photographed by our then 20-year-old father. We also included screenshots from the National University of Singapore’s site: https://nusgis.org/historical-maps-of-singapore/ showing the 1945 and 1953 maps illustrating just where this airport, which closed in 1955, was.
